"Home is where the heart is."

So I'm going to put my heart into building a home.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided that my first mission is to be at Habitat for Humanity. Stayed tuned for more inside background info on it. It's local and requires no additional funding on my part. So, after navigating my way through their website I found myself at the sign up volunteer page and created my user name. How exciting! I of course am signing up to volunteer under the construction crew member because... duh... I'll get to use power tools!!!

So to volunteer individually is easy, you just go to: http://www.habitatla.org:80/volunteer_construction.asp (this is for Los Angeles)
Their main website is http://www.habitatla.org/habitat.asp
They have a women's build by the way.... as well as international ones.

The steps were as follows:
Create a user name and password.
Complete the entire form, including e-mail address.
Select "Crew Member" as your team role.
Schedule one or multiple volunteer dates.
Bring the required forms with you on your volunteer date.

It took me a whole of 5 minutes and then gave me a list of current sites and positions available and asked me my interests....construction construction construction! ;) oh and maybe some photography.

Next step pick a site and date....

Stay tuned.

"Be the change you want to see in the world." Gandhi

Woman on a mission was conceived in October of 2008. I was trying to figure out a way to set forth on my journey of becoming a philanthropist. I had this brilliant idea that if I developed it into a show, I could get funded to go help people and causes around the world. Well, I wrote my treatment, registered it, and then got stuck... So I've come back to my roots, to my true intention. I am simply going to make Woman on a Mission happen no matter what and blog my way through my experiences. I don't know where the funds will come from, how it will happen, or where I will end up. All I know is that it is my intention to immerse myself within as many non-profit organizations across the world and donate my time to them, no matter how long it takes. One mission at at time, I will help change the world!
